BPSC AEDO 2025 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

BPSC AEDO 2025 Official Syllabus and Exam Patterns:

The selection of eligible candidates for BPSC AEDO 2025 advertised posts will be done through a written (objective) examination. There will be no interview. As per the resolutions of the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Bihar, and the General Administration Department, candidates from the General category must secure a minimum of 40% marks in the written exam. The minimum qualifying marks for Backward Class candidates are 36.5%, for Extremely Backward Class candidates, 34%, and for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe, women, and disabled candidates, 32%.


The written exam will consist of the following papers, nature of the exam, number of questions, duration, and total marks:

  • Paper 1: General Language
    • Subjects: General English (30 marks) and General Hindi (70 marks).
    • Nature: Objective.
    • Number of Questions: 100.
    • Duration: 2 hours.
    • Total Marks: 100.
    • Note: This paper is qualifying, and it's mandatory to obtain a minimum of 30% marks in both General English and General Hindi separately. Your other papers will only be evaluated if you achieve these minimum marks. Failure to do so will result in your candidature not being considered.
  • Paper 2: General Studies
    • Nature: Objective.
    • Number of Questions: 100.
    • Duration: 2 hours.
    • Total Marks: 100.
  • Paper 3: General Aptitude
    • Nature: Objective.
    • Number of Questions: 100.
    • Duration: 2 hours.
    • Total Marks: 100.

Other Details:

  • There is a

negative marking of 1/3 for each incorrect answer.

  • The syllabus for each paper is as follows:
    • General Language: The questions will be designed to test the candidate's understanding and usage of the language.
    • General Studies: This paper will include questions on general science, current events of national and international importance, the history of India and its key features, general geography, major geographical divisions and important rivers of Bihar, Indian polity and economy, major changes in Bihar's economy after independence, and India's national movement and Bihar's contribution to it.
    • General Aptitude: Questions will cover number systems, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetic operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, profit and loss, analogy, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem-solving, analysis, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figural classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding, and decoding.
  • Document Verification: After the written exam, document verification will be conducted. Candidates must appear with the original copies of all the certificates claimed in their online application, otherwise they will not be included in the merit list.
  • Merit List: The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination. If two candidates have the same score, the one with higher marks in the General Studies paper will be ranked higher. If scores in both the written exam and the General Studies paper are the same, age will be considered28. If age is also the same, the candidate whose name appears first in the Devanagari alphabet will be given preference.
  • There is no provision for re-evaluation of the written examination results.
